In this section you will find information about the gardens which will I hope be of some use.
- The garden walks are almost all grass, and undulate from one end to the other. Therefore although disabled are very welcome, users of wheelchairs should be prepared. Visitors should also be aware that the ground conditions can sometimes be quite wet underfoot, and therefore should come prepared.
- The gardens are open from 10.00 until 17.00 daily, normally from Easter weekend or 1 April until the end of September.
- Groups and buses are very welcome, and there is a 10% discount entry rate for groups of more than twenty people.
- The ruins to the old Castle have been secured for the protection of the Public. Please do not attempt to enter the ruin.
- Dogs are welcome in the garden, and although we do not expect them to be on a lead at all times, they should be under control, to avoid inconvenience to other visitors, and disturbance of the wild life.
- The garden can take between 30 mins and all day to visit. A guide book is available which includes suggested routes, and an estimate of how long each takes to complete.
- Enclosed by the gardens is a field. Please do not attempt to short cut across the field which is used for normal agricultural activities, and the livestock contained in the field may not be friendly.
- Visitors are welcome to take a picnic into the garden, but are requested to ensure that all litter is removed afterwards.
- Organisers of bus trips are recommended to contact the gardens before completing their plans. This is to ensure that correct routes can be advised for bus drivers, and that congestion does not occur.
- The gardens are available as a venue for wedding receptions etc. Please contact the office for further information.
