Castle Kennedy Gardens in South West Scotland rank among the most spectacular Gardens in the country. From beautiful scenery, magnificent rhododendrons, sculpted landforms, stunning fauna, magnificent walks, popular bird hides and a fun, inventive programme of events for all the family throughout the season, the gardens provide a perfect haven for relaxing and exploring.

The Gardens, part of Stair Estates, they are surrounded on three sides by the sea and benefit from the warmth of the Gulf Stream which provides a micro-climate not found in many parts of the UK. They are famous for colourful displays of Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Embothriums, many rare and exotic plants, 20 Champion Trees, (that's oldest, tallest, most impressive!),and of course the romantic ruins of 16th century Castle Kennedy itself.

Tea Room and Shop

Our charming Tea Room is the perfect place
to enjoy a light meal of sandwiches,
soup, baked potatoes, hot drinks,
delicious home-baking and a tasty children's menu.

And don't forget.... You don't have to visit the gardens to visit our Tea Room. With Wi FI recently installed it's the perfect place to enjoy a business or social lunch with friends or to break a long journey.

A full programme of events takes place in the Gardens throughout the season including regular Sunday adventures with the new Garden Ranger.

Woodland, Wild or Walled

There are so many different ways to spend time at Castle Kennedy Gardens. The choice is yours: peruse our plants, delight in our ravishing views, stroll through our woodland, stride out round the lochs or simply take time to appreciate the planting skills that have over the years created such a wonderful plethora of colours and textures for you to savour.

Our summer season has been action packed so far and our activities programme continuing right through until the end of Autumn. Coming up 'Build a Bird Box', Brilliant Borders Guided walk, Woodland Scavenger Hunts and of course we're all looking forward to the climax of our Photo Safari Competition on the 28th September.

Win a brand new camera and a book of your own photos...here's how

Join our Garden Ranger, Alastair Clark on a Photosafari, where you have to hunt the locations and take the shots! Navigation can be by map, compass or gps. All you need to bring is yourself and some kind of camera. You can also take part in the day by yourself. You just need to pick up a free map at the entrance. Send us your images to enter the competition and we will post them on our Facebook page. There are still two 5 PhotoSafaris to go this year.Winner will be selected after the final day. Photosafari's still to come include
Sunday 31st August and the final one on Sunday 28th September.
There is no charge for this activity apart from our usual entry fee.
